The SMP RF coaxial connector is an ultra-small push fit RF coax connector featuring small size, light weight, excellent vibration-proof performance, and a wide working frequency bandwidth. It typically operates at frequencies up to 18GHz. Elite Electronic's high-performance SMP RF coax connectors can reaching up to 40GHz.

The SMP plug has three interface forms: full detent, limited detent, and smooth bore . These various interface forms accommodate the required axial or radial movement for blind mating in board-to-board systems. 

The mating and unmating force:  full detent> limited detent > smooth bore

According to the different application, the user can choose SMP male plug with different structures. When users do not need frequent insertion, they can choose the SMP RF coaxial connectors with full detent structure. When users need many times of insertion, they can choose limited detent smp connectors. When users need more or need to assemble many SMP board to board connectors, they can choose the smooth bore structure. 

For board to board interconnection, we recommend clients use the SMP male plug+ SMP female to female adapter+ SMP male plug. Please check the following example ( for reference only). 

In addition, we do not recommend the clients use the full detent smp for both end. Why? If one end using the smooth bore SMP, when the board is separated, due to the extraction force between female to female adapter and the smooth bore is small, the adapter will remain on the SMP full detent side. It is convenient for the secondary insertion. If both ends use the full detent, when the board is separated, the state of the board upon removal would not be guaranteed.
